Muscat: Heavy thundershowers accompanied by downdraft, fresh winds, and hail reported from various parts of the country will continue until Wednesday afternoon over the Governorates of AL Dhahira, Al Dakhylia, North Al Sharqiya, South Al Sharqiya and Al Wusta Governorates with precipitation ranging from 20 mm to 50 mm may associate with flash floods, with chance of varying intensity rainfall over the northern Governorates of Oman, Met Office said in a weather alert issued on Tuesday.

Thunderstorms accompanied by active downward winds with hail are expected to fall gradually until Tuesday evening in the governorates of Musandam, Buraimi, North al Batinah, South al Batinah, and Al Dhahirah, extending to include Al Dakhiliyah and Muscat, with rain amounts ranging from 20-60 mm that may lead to the flow of wadis.
The Civil Aviation Authority has called on everyone to exercise caution during thunderstorms, not to cross wadis, avoid low-lying places, and not to go to the sea during the warning period.
