The latest analysis from the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre at the Civil Aviation Authority indicated the possibility that the Sultanate of Oman will be affected by a trough of a low pressure system starting from Monday until the end of the week.
Clouds are expected to flow and form over most governorates of Oman, with chances of isolated rainfall on Monday. Rainfall is expected to be variable in intensity and thunderstorms ranging between 10-50 mm are expected on Tuesday, accompanied by active downdraft winds and hail in Musandam Governorate, extending to cover the rest of the governorates. There is a possibility of the sea wave height increasing from moderate to rough (2-3 metres) on the western coasts of Musandam Governorate and the coasts of the Arabian Sea, with the blowing of southeast winds (15-25 knots) in most governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, leading to the rise of dust and dirt in desert and open areas.
Clouds advection and formation are to begin from Monday evening with the possibility of isolated rainfall ranging between 5-20 mm. Clouds advection will continue on Tuesday as well with chance of rainfall ranging between 10-50 mm occasionally accompanied by thundershowers leading to flash floods and the flow of wadis.
The Civil Aviation Authority has advised all to take precaution during rain and wadis flow, and to check visibility and sea state before sailing and follow the weather bulletins issued by authorities.
