MUSCAT: Dr Abdullah bin Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information and Chairman of the main organising committee of the Muscat International Book Fair, met at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, with a number of Gulf and Arab foreign media professionals participating in covering the activities of the Muscat International Book Fair in its 28th session.
During the meeting, the minister appreciated the efforts made by foreign media institutions in conveying the positive image of the Sultanate of Oman, stressing the necessity of cooperation and communication between various media institutions to exchange expertise, cultures, experiments and knowledge, and to build bridges of friendship and peace between countries of the world, and the role of the media in pushing the wheel of economic, civilisational and social development, in addition to its pivotal role in correcting the global path to strengthen the principles of peace among peoples.
The meeting touched on the renewed renaissance that the Sultanate of Oman is experiencing under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik in all fields, with which the Omani economy has witnessed important and major transformations, in line with the implementation of the Oman Vision 2040. The minister stressed the role of the media in advancing accelerating economic, cultural and social development in every country.
During the meeting, ways to enhance media cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and sisterly and friendly countries were also discussed, including exchanging experiences and media content and supporting cultural and artistic initiatives, in addition to emphasising the importance of the Muscat International Book Fair as a demonstration of cultural and intellectual communication and its role in promoting dialogue between cultures and civilisations. — ONA
