Muscat: Within the priority of developing sustainable governorates and cities, Muscat Governorate launched the specialised training programme 'Local Administration within the Priority of Development of Sustainable Governorates and Cities'.


The programme is aimed at qualifying employees in the category of department directors, their assistants, and department heads with the aim of building leadership cadres capable of achieving a balance between comprehensive development and community participation in its pursuit of a sustainable future.


The training programme included discussions on aspects of analytical and interactive management to contribute to promoting local development, local administration in the Sultanate of Oman, and the challenges and opportunities it faces.


In addition, the training programme provides participants with the opportunity to develop leadership skills and make strategic decisions that enhance positive interaction between institutions and the local community.


The programme is held at the Oman Oil and Gas Institute at Sultan Qaboos University, and continues for a week from February 25 - 29.


The programme targets the job levels of assistant director, department director and the like, and higher than the governorate and governors’ offices. The programme aims to introduce the target group to the nature of local administration, its origin and history, and to clarify its foundations and general principles, as well as the governance of local administration in the Sultanate of Oman.
