Muscat Airport handles 1.2 million passengers in January 2024

Muscat: The number of passengers passing through the airports of the Sultanate of Oman (arrivals, departures, and transit) exceeded 1.41 million in January 2024, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).


The number of arrivals through the airports of the Sultanate of Oman increased by 18 percent, while the number of departures increased by 25 percent compared to the same month of the previous year,


The number of International flights arriving and departing through various airports of the Sultanate of Oman was 8,541.

The number of domestic and international air traffic through Muscat International Airport increased by 16 percent to 8,756, compared to 7,550 flights during the same month of the previous year.


The total number of passengers was also recorded. Domestic and international flights (arrivals, departures, and flight transfers) increased by 22.7 percent to 1.29 million.


Muscat Airport


The number of international flights through Muscat International Airport increased to 8,090, or 16.5 percent, in January, including 4,044 arrivals and 4,046 departures.


The number of passengers through the airport also rose to 1.2 million, compared to 961,300 passengers in January 2023.


The number of domestic flights through Muscat International Airport was 666, an increase of 9.5 percent, including 332 arrivals and 334 departures.


The number of domestic flight passengers through Muscat International Airport was more than 89,700.


Salalah Airport


Salalah Airport recorded an increase in the number of flights by 4.5 percent in January 2024, bringing the number of international and domestic flights arriving and departing through the airport to 809, compared to 774 flights during the same month of the previous year.


The number of domestic flights increased by 9.7 percent, international flights by 0.2 percent, and the number of passengers through Salalah Airport increased by 14 percent to 120,500 passengers last January.


Sohar Airport


The number of international flights (departures and arrivals) at Sohar Airport was 28 in January, while the number of passengers on international flights (arriving and departing) was 1,014.


Duqm Airport


Duqm Airport recorded a 3.8 percent increase in the number of domestic flights (departing and arriving) to 54 in January, compared to 52 flights during the same period in 2023.


The number of passengers decreased by 11.5 percent to 5,370 passengers.


Nationalities


Indian nationals topped the list of passengers using the Muscat International Airport (169,000), followed by Pakistan nationals( 48, 000), and Bangladesh nationals (41,200).
