DUBAI: Kia Middle East and Africa (MEA) unveiled its 'Platform Beyond Vehicle' (PBV) model, set to revolutionize mobility in the region by combining electric vehicles (EVs) with the latest software technology. Scheduled for availability in 2026, the PBV business aims to transcend traditional automobile concepts, offering modular, customizable vehicles that go beyond the conventional boundaries of transportation.

Kia's PBVs represent a strategic move towards becoming a Sustainable Mobility Solutions Provider, challenging the traditional notion of automobiles. These innovative vehicles blend fit-for-purpose EVs with advanced software technology, offering more than just transportation. The focus is on reimagining space through tailored interiors that provide flexibility and freedom, reflecting Kia's vision for a new era of mobility.

SooHang Chang, President of Kia Middle East & Africa, emphasized the customer-centric approach of the PBV business, stating, "The introduction of Kia’s PBV to the Middle East and Africa signifies our commitment to pioneering future-forward mobility solutions for fleets across the region." Chang highlights the dedication to delivering freedom and flexibility through modular, customizable vehicles catering to the diverse needs of businesses and individuals alike. The PBV model aims to address the unmet needs of the diverse customer base in the MEA fleet vehicle segment. Kia recognizes challenges related to limited transportation options and one-dimensional product offerings, and the PBV is designed to provide tailored mobility solutions optimized for the region’s specific market and business conditions.

The PBV innovation introduces 'Easy Swap' technology, allowing a single vehicle chassis to fulfill multiple mobility needs. Whether operating as a taxi during the day or a delivery van at night, the PBV's interchangeable upper bodies or life modules offer unparalleled flexibility. The 'Dynamic Hybrid' weldless body structure assembly permits adjustments based on the required vehicle purpose, ensuring adaptability to various scenarios.

Kia has outlined three distinctive phases for the PBV roadmap. Phase one will introduce the Kia PV5, a versatile EV designed for hailing, delivery, and utilities. Phase two will witness the evolution of PBVs into AI mobility platforms, ensuring continuous interaction with users through data-driven insights. Finally, phase three will see PBVs become highly customizable, bespoke mobility vehicles integrating into the future mobility ecosystem, fostering an environment for automated driving and advanced air mobility.

The PBVs are scheduled to be available in the MEA region from January 2026. This significant milestone aligns with Kia's commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the market, reinforcing its position as a leading sustainability mobility solutions provider in the region.
