Muscat: For the first time in the Sultanate of Oman, the ‘Eshraqat Ahad’ forum was launched on February 19 to draw the image of the Honourable Lady as part of a national artistic demonstration.
The event was held in most of the Omani Women’s Association (OWA) in the governorates and arts ceremonies affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
Maryam bint Mohammed bin Abdulkarim al Zadjaliyah, President, OWA, Muscat and Head of the Forum’s Supervision Committee, said, “The forum which was announced on January 14, attracted large numbers of artists, nearly a total of 300 participants from various governorates of which about 213 applications were approved.” Al Zadjaliyah added that the initial screening of names and works revealed distinguished Omani talents in various fields, including many emerging talents. This proved that such events are worthy of encouragement taking the role in shaping and developing national talents.
The forum comes as an initiative from the OWA in Muscat in recognition and gratitude for the Honourable Lady’s support of Omani women in various fields of work. The choice of fine arts drew attention to its role as a tool for expressing national identity.
Al Zadjaliyah also said that the roles played by the Honourable Lady at the national level deserve such a celebration that raises the appreciation and gratitude that befits her.
A deadline of one month was provided for the artists to produce artistic work from February 19 to March 19.
All the headquarters of women’s associations, as well as the youth centres affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, are prepared to host the artists, as the committee provided all the tools an artist needs.
The step also allows various schools of fine artto participate in this national artistic competition.
Maryam thanked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for its unlimited support for organising the forum. She also thanked the supporters from the private sector and the Omani women’s associations participating in this demonstration by harnessing their capabilities to make the forum a success.
