Workshop on electronic security held in Dhofar

Salalah: The Office of the Governor of Dhofar, in cooperation with the Electronic Defence Centre, organised an awareness workshop at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah on ‘electronic security.’


The opening of the seminar was sponsored by His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, in the presence of a number of excellencies and officials.


The episode presented by Dr Mazen bin Hamad al Shueili, Assistant Head of the Cyber ​​Defence Centre, included a number of topics, including an introduction to the centre, the most prominent works and legislation it has developed, in addition to a review of the National Cyber ​​Defence Strategy 2022-2025, and the current and future challenges of the cyber security system and methods of targeting cyberspace.

The episode also reviewed statistics on monitoring, alerting, and electronic incidents on various government sector networks in the Sultanate of Oman, and the mechanism for using data and how to protect it, in addition to discussing the importance of establishing the Advanced Cyber ​​Security Academy in partnership with the University of Technology and Applied Sciences to enhance national capabilities in this field.


It is noteworthy that the Cyber ​​Defence Centre seeks to enhance the ability of concerned authorities and individuals to address electronic threats and ensure the security of the Sultanate of Oman’s cyberspace by creating strategic national partnerships between the relevant sectors locally and internationally, which contributes to achieving the Oman Vision 2040.
