Muscat celebrates graduation of 15th batch of specialised doctors

MUSCAT: The Oman Medical Specialisation Council marked a significant milestone as it celebrated the graduation of the 15th batch of doctors who successfully completed their training within the Council.


The training period ranged from four to six academic years for specialised training programmes and two to three years for local fellowships. The ceremony took place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.


A total of 120 male and female graduates comprised this batch, specialising in three fields for local fellowships: cardiology for adults, genetic medicine, and hematology and oncology for children. Additionally, graduates excelled in 17 medical specialties, including anesthesia, dermatology, ear, nose and throat surgery, emergency medicine, family medicine, general surgery, and dentistry.

Dr Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, presented certificates of appreciation to honour distinguished doctors among the faculty members and resident doctors. The minister also distributed graduation certificates to the 120 specialised doctors, both male and female, and recognised graduates with international achievements.


Dr Siham bint Salem Al Sananiyya, Vice President of the Council for Professional Efficiency Affairs, emphasised the crucial role of educational institutions and research centres in scientific and knowledge building.


She acknowledged the significance of medical progress and highlighted the alignment of student training with the rapid developments brought about by the Fourth Industrial Revolution and its technological advancements.


The ceremony featured a visual presentation showcasing the doctors' journey and their accomplishments during the training years at the Council.


Distinguished attendees included Dr Fatima bint Mohammed Al Ajmiyah, CEO of the Omani Board for Medical Specialties, several under-secretaries, members of the Majlis Ash'shura Council, members of the Council's teaching staff, and parents of the graduate doctors.
