Eng Saeed al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, and Board of Directors Chairman of Oman Air, during a media meeting on Wednesday, emphasised the fair deployment of required human resources based on approved structural vacancies.

The surplus workforce will be accommodated in the talent pool at the company, where their capabilities and skills will be developed to enable them to take on new roles within Oman Air, the aviation system, and other government and private entities in the Sultanate of Oman to benefit from their services and expertise.

He stated that an announcement will soon be made about the appointment of a new CEO with over 30 years of experience in international aviation and comprehensive corporate transformation programmes. Concurrently, a comprehensive assessment of remaining executive and administrative positions is being conducted, ensuring that all employees have a fair opportunity to apply for vacancies in the new organisational structure.

Al Maawali stressed that the company places great importance on Omani cadres, having signed employment contracts for 21 Omani pilots out of 34 indirectly contracted pilots.

He confirmed that the company is working to directly attract more travellers to Muscat in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism. An agreement was signed with a global company to attract 30,000 tourists to the Sultanate of Oman by 2024.

These important measures are part of a broader organisational restructuring process aimed at assessing current capabilities and aligning them with the requirements of the stage and the market. This necessitates the preparation of qualified personnel to lead this strategic transformation to compete in the global travel market and deal with its variables.

Moreover, the Minister added that Oman Air is seeking to develop its digital operations as one of the projects it is working on through updating its digital platforms, website, and improving the user experience by introducing modern features that keep pace with technological developments and innovation for reservations, payment options, virtual reality, navigation system, and other services.
