MUSCAT: In a concerted effort to promote impactful projects in the domain of social responsibility, the Ministry of Energy and Minerals has forged partnerships with seven key companies in the sector, collectively committing RO 2.5 million to support three significant national initiatives. This collaborative endeavor aims to enhance the well-being of Oman's communities and citizens through innovative projects.
One of the pivotal projects is the Ibri Public Park Project, spanning an area of 168,000 sq metres in Al Dhahirah Governorate. It will feature green spaces, water bodies, recreational facilities, health paths, and an open-air theater.
Another initiative involves financing medical equipment for Khoula Hospital to bolster surgical services and accommodate a projected 10,000 surgeries annually. By providing essential medical equipment for the hospital's orthopedic department and ophthalmology clinic, this project aims to reduce surgical waitlists, alleviate healthcare burdens, and enhance overall societal well-being.
The third project, the Khuta "Steps" Platform Project for Vocational Guidance and Career Counseling, offers advanced career counseling services to students and job seekers. This initiative acts as a bridge between educational institutions, job markets, and vocational opportunities, providing updated information on educational programs, training opportunities, and labour market insights.
In remarks, Najeeb bin Ali al Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, commended the Ibri Public Park project, emphasizing its significance as a first-of-its-kind development in the Al Dhahirah Governorate. Strategically situated in the Wilayat of Ibri along the main Ibri-Dhank road, the park initiative aligns with the governorate's vision for future growth, he said.
Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has inked agreements to fund a variety of social investment programs in collaboration with governmental and private entities. These initiatives include establishing a Fruit Research Center of Excellence, equipping schools with educational resources, funding cultural and innovation centers, enhancing road infrastructure, supporting healthcare initiatives, and more.
