Muscat: The latest weather updates and analysis from the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center on Friday have indicated that the Sultanate of Oman is set to experience the influence of an upper air low-pressure system from Sunday, February 11th, until Wednesday, February 14th.
Anticipated Weather Conditions:
Cloud advection and development are expected, with the likelihood of thunderstorms and heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by active downdraft winds and hail. These conditions pose a risk of flash floods, particularly in Musandam, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dakhylia, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahira, Muscat, North Al Sharqhiya, South Al Sharqhiya, and parts of Al Wusta governorates.
Sea Wave Height:
There is a possibility of a rise in sea wave height from moderate to rough conditions, ranging from 2 to 3.5 meters, along Musandam's west coasts and the Oman Sea coasts during thunderstorms associated with downdraft winds.

* The intensity of the weather system is expected to peak on this day, with thunderstorms and heavy to very heavy rainfall (30 — 100 mm) associated with downdraft winds and hail. Flash flood flow is likely.
* Active downdraft winds are forecasted with speeds ranging between 15 to 45 knots (28-83 km/h).
Tuesday & Wednesday, February 13/14, 2024:
* Isolated rain, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms (10 — 35 mm), is expected, with flash flood potential in several governorates. The intensity will be higher along the coastal areas of the Oman Sea.
* The weather system is anticipated to gradually weaken from Wednesday morning.
* Active downdraft winds are forecasted with speeds ranging between 15 to 35 knots (28-64 km/h).
