The Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development’s Entrepreneur Readiness Programme promotes entrepreneurship and provides best practices in supporting small and medium enterprise owners.
A total of 2,488 participants have taken the training since its inception, which seeks to empower owners of SME who wish to obtain financing and find an effective tool to obtain some of the services provided by the ASMED.
The programme targets new and existing projects. It is considered mandatory for the beneficiaries to receive a set of services provided by ASMED, namely funding, sponsorship and land development contracts (usufructs), among others.
ASMED pointed out that applicants to this programme must have an applicable pioneering idea and they have to pass the preliminary evaluation, among other procedures.
Haitham bin Khaled al Qarni, Assistant Director of the Development and Empowerment Department at the ASMED, said: “The Entrepreneur Readiness Programme was launched by the Authority to target people with ideas and young people who wish to engage in entrepreneurship and owners of existing projects with the aim of developing their skills.”
In 2023, 1,548 participants took part of whom 1,417 passed the programme in 58 training groups in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. In 2022, a total of 1,180 participants, of whom 1,071 participants passed the programme in 56 training groups.
The programme targets youths, which will help them manage their businesses and raise competitiveness.
It focuses on developing entrepreneurs’ communication skills, understanding of business laws, enhancing financial, administrative, marketing and technical skills, creative thinking, and using emerging technologies in entrepreneurship.
The programme includes cognitive and applied training modules which aims to provide a general overview of preparing and evaluating the feasibility study of the project.
