MUSCAT: The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation (MoHERI), in collaboration with Al Mouj Muscat, has signed a Collaboration Program to enhance scientific research and foster innovation initiatives. The partnership will aim to leverage the resources and expertise of both entities to support programmes and projects within the science field.

The MoU was signed by Dr Saif bin Abdullah al Haddabi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation and Nasser bin Masoud al Sheibani, Chief Executive Officer of Al Mouj Muscat.

Dr Al Haddabi said: "Through this agreement, we aim to bolster the cooperation and integration between government institutions and the private sector in the field of scientific research and innovation. We look forward to the role Al Mouj Muscat will play in supporting such initiatives and activities, contributing to the development and empowerment of our national talent in the sector and ultimately fostering the growth of a knowledge-based economy."

Looking to foster a thriving ecosystem for innovation and research, the cooperation also seeks to enhance opportunities for joint initiatives supporting entrepreneurship and startup companies. This includes developing a specific track in the 'Upgrade' programme to transform student graduation projects into startups, focusing on sustainability, environment, and real estate research.

Al Sheibani said: "Al Mouj Muscat’s commitment to champion the wealth of talented individuals and innovators in Oman remains unwavering. This collaboration with MoHERI represents a significant step in creating a dynamic ecosystem that nurtures innovative ideas and transforms them into sustainable, impactful ventures."

The partnership will entail a series of workshops and seminars hosted at Al Mouj Muscat, notably featuring the eleventh edition of the Science Café. Moreover, Al Mouj Muscat's marketing platforms will be leveraged to effectively disseminate information about the ministry's scientific research and innovation activities over the course of the program. Furthermore, the partnership includes efforts to promote the Oman Innovation Festival, organized by the ministry this coming February.
