MUSCAT: Seeb Club marked a spectacular start to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Shield basketball 2023-2024 with an impressive 96-22 victory over Dhofar at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.


From the opening, Seeb dominated in both defensive and offensive aspects, steering the game in their favour and securing victory in all quarters. While Dhofar struggled to maintain focus, resulting in a noticeable point difference.


Seeb faced little difficulty in advancing and widening the gap in the match. In the first quarter, they took the lead, scoring 9 points through shots from players Ahmed al Sinani and Rashid al Zahibi. Dhofar attempted to narrow the gap with 2 points from Youssef al Shahi. However, Seeb continued their dominance, adding 6 more points through Brees and Rashid al Zahibi.


Dhofar responded with 2 points from Mohammed al Mahrami, ending the first quarter with Seeb leading 29-10.


In the second quarter, Seeb maintained offensive superiority. A quick attack allowed Seeb's Suhail al Busaidy to score a three-pointer and they continued their assault, adding 5 more points to lead 37-10. Dhofar managed to score three points through Ahmed Abu Hamar but Seeb responded by adding 6 more points, making the score 43-13 at half-time.


The third quarter saw Seeb continuing their successful attacks, capitalising on Dhofar's lack of focus in defence and offence. Seeb scored 27 points in this quarter, while Dhofar failed to score any, ending the third quarter with Seeb leading Dhofar 80-18.


In the fourth quarter, the game continued with Seeb maintaining their offensive advantage, adding 16 more points, while Dhofar managed to score 4 points. The match concluded with Seeb securing a victory over Dhofar with a score of 96-22.


The match was officiated by international referees Ahmed al Balushi as the head referee, Ahmed al Khasibi as the second referee and Wafa al Sumairi as the third referee. Monira al Namani, Meyaad al Hamdaniand Shareefa al Zadjali were in charge of the table.
