AL BURAIMI: Her Highness the Honourable Lady Assayida Ahd Abdullah Hamed al Busaidi, Spouse of the Sultan of Oman, on Wednesday visited the Governorate of Al Buraimi. The visit covered Al Wafa Centre for the Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities, Al Sa’ra Oasis and the Hisn Al Al Hillah castle.
In the presence of Sayyid Dr Hamad Ahmed al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi, the Honourable Lady toured the sections of Al Wafa Centre and took note of rehabilitation and curative services it offers to people with disabilities.
The Honourable Lady was briefed about the centre’s departments, its specialty halls, the services rendered to all age groups of the disabled and the rehabilitation plans made to develop their intellectual and motor skills. She also listened to a detailed account of the centre’s goals and visions to support people with disabilities and groom them into active individuals capable of integrating into society.
The Honourable Lady spoke to those registered at the centre to get firsthand knowledge about the extent to which they benefited from the services provided. She was also briefed about the difficulties and challenges posed to the beneficiaries.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Honourable Lady thanked all those in charge of the centre and valued their dedication in developing the potential of this segment of society. She wished them success in performing their noble humanitarian mission.
Those in charge of Al Wafa Centre expressed their great delight and gratitude to the Honourable Lady for timely visit.
The Honourable Lady also visited the Sa’ra Oasis in Al Buraimi, with its famous stream known as Sa’rani Falaj.
At the start of the visit, the Honourable Lady watched a visual presentation about the "Tale of Al Sa’ra Oasis" and Al Sa’rani Falaj, as well as efforts made by the people of the neighbourhood and government departments to revive the falaj after a break of 15 years.
She toured the oasis to learn about the activities that entertain visitors from different segments of society.
At the conclusion of the tour, those in charge gave one of the olive trees the name of “Al-Jalila” (the Honourable) in commemoration of the Honourable Lady’s visit and endeavours to support civil projects.
The Honourable Lady expressed her thanks to those in charge of the oasis, wishing them success in providing the best community services.
After that, the Honourable Lady visited the Hisn Al Hillah castle in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi. She listened to a briefing about Al Buraimi Governorate and saw some of the traditional crafts made by self-employed families. She also toured an exhibition codenamed “The Tale of Man”, a gallery comprising antiques and a visual arts exhibition.
Before the end of her tour of Hisn Al Hillah, the Honourable Lady signed the Visitors’ Book.
At the conclusion of her visit to Al Buraimi Governorate, the Honourable Lady received a number of women from the governorate. - ONA
