The Sultanate of Oman represented by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs (MoARA) and the Ministry of Haj and Umrah (MHU) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are poised to enhance relations in terms of Haj and Umrah.
As a step towards achieving this, Oman will host Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan al Rabiah, Minister of Haj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from January 16 to 17 where he will hold meetings with Dr. Mohammed bin Said al Maamari, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs and other ministerial representatives.

Given the fruitful cooperation between them, an exhibition of the Nasik pilgrimage program will be held today (Tuesday) at the Kempinski Hotel.
Taking it further, a discussion session between the two ministerial delegations, headed by Dr Mohammed bin Said al Maamari and the Saudi delegation headed by Dr Tawfiq bin Fawzan al Rabiah, will be held.
Following, both sides will meet with the press immediately after the session on Wednesday.
As many as 33,356 people comprising 29,930 Omanis and 3,606 expatriates registered last year for holy Haj out of which 14,000 were able to perform the same as per the agreement with the Saudi Haj authorities.
Oman and Saudi Arabia have recently opened the first, 725 kilometre Oman-Saudi road that would contribute to the smooth movement of citizens of the two countries, especially those who travel to Saudi for pilgrimage by road. The road runs from the Al Batha road intersection near the capital, Riyadh, to the Empty Quarter crossing on the Saudi-Oman border.
The project to link the two countries, implemented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, is considered to play a vital role in promoting trade exchange between the two countries and facilitating the movement of pilgrims and tourists.
