The Omani Women’s Association in Muscat launched a painting competition with RO 15,000 cash prizes devoted to Her Highness The Honourable Lady under the slogan ‘Ishraqat Ahd’. OWA also unveiled a new logo.
The OWA logo embodies strength, beauty and innovation that characterises Omani women. The blooming flower signifies development, growth and the desire for excellence.
The competition will bring together artists from across the Sultanate of Oman to draw the picture of HH the Honourable Lady as an expression of gratitude and appreciation. The deadline to submit the work is March 11. The winner will get RO 5,000 while four others will get RO 4,000, RO 3,000, RO 2,000 and RO 1,000 each.
Abdulkarim al Maimani, an artist in and member of the supervision committee, said, “As part of the Ishraqat Ahd Forum, a committee was set up to determine the framework of the competition and and terms of reference.
This committee will oversee the forum’s work and shortlisting of competitors.” “The forum is the first artistic event in the Sultanate of Oman that aims to harmonise the spirit of artistic giving with the spirit of national belonging, so that the artist can expressing his/her gratitude for the unlimited support of the HH the Honourable Lady in bridging cooperation between the various branches of OWS in Oman,” said Aisha al Alawi, head of the media and social communication committee.
A jury will be formed to select the best five works in the competition. The OSW in Muscat will provide the basic technical tools for artists shortlisted for the competition. The rights of winning works will be under the ownership of OSW.
Participation in the forum was limited to Omani artists of both genders aged 18 years and above. S/he can use oil colours or acrylic colours for the work.
The panel size was 120 x 100 cm as a standard size for all those selected to participate. The last date for submitting the painting will be March 11. The participant must draw directly in front of the public during the specified period at the various premises of OWA branches across Oman.
The OWA conducts many forums to foster partnerships with community partners, supporters and beneficiaries. Among the companies supporting this forum are Omantel, Mohsin Haider Darwish Company and Ooredoo.
