KHASAB: The construction of Dibba-Lima-Khasab road in Musandam Governorate has got under way.
It is one of the strategic projects that were awarded and overseen by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
Engineer Yusef bin Abdullah al Mujaini, Assistant Director-General of Projects and Maintenance at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, said that the road has a total length of 70 km. He noted that the first phase of the project stretches from the Wilayat of Khasab to the Niyabat of Lima with a distance of 19 km.
The second phase, an 8-km stretch, is aimed at boosting the efficiency of the existing road at the Niyabat of Lima while the third phase, a 43-km portion, extends from the Niyabat of Lima to the Wilayat of Dibba.
The road has 300 viaducts and 11 bridges. The construction work is scheduled to finish within 45 months, Al Mujaini said, adding that the project aims at constructing a road that would be open all-year-round regardless and withstands floods and heavy rain as well as boosting the benefit from tourism and other economic activities in Musandam Governorate. — ONA
