MUSCAT: The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth has announced the details of the third edition of the 'Mostaed' youth skills development programme for the year 2024. This initiative aims to engage 1,000 young individuals from various regions of the Sultanate of Oman.The camp will be held in five governorates starting from January and will continue until November 2024.
The programme is a collaborative between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the Outward Bound Oman Foundation, known as 'Challenge'. The first edition in 2022 targeted 200 Omani youth aged between 18-25 from different governorates. In the second edition in 2023, the programmed aimed at 1,000 Omani youth aged between 18-29 from various governorates while in its third edition this year, the programme targets 1,000 Omani youth aged between 18-29.
There will be a camp that will be held in five different governorates where the Outward Bound Oman Foundation operates, Al Sharqiyah North, Al Dakhiliyah, Musandam, Al Wusta and Al Dhahirah.
Each camp will last for four days and three nights, during which participants will engage in a unique experience with the Outward-Bound Oman learning approach, contributing to the creation of a strong and long-lasting impact.
Hilal al Siyabi, Director General of the General Directorate for Youth at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, stated that the camp curriculum is built according to the Omani national framework for future skills.
This framework aligns with Oman Vision 2040, specifically in the 'Human and Society' axis, addressing the requirements of sustainable development and future skills. Al Siyabi added that the camp's curriculum throughout the four days includes problem-solving activities, group discussions, mountain hiking, and camping in natural environments away from external distractions.
The camp is led by qualified Omani trainers with high-level training, in addition to participants benefiting from the facilities of the Outward Bound Oman Training Centres.
Al Siyabi emphasised that the camp aims to equip participants with skills and behaviours that institutions seek to instil in their new employees, such as communication skills, problem-solving, and self-management.
Participants will gain a greater awareness of employer expectations, work ethics, and the requirements of the job market.
Maha al Habsi, Director General of Business Development at the Challenge Oman Foundation, highlighted that the four-day programme is designed to bolster the life and professional skills of young participants.
Additionally, it elucidates the role of the youth in Oman Vision 2040, shedding light on their key priorities within this vision. Al Habsi emphasised that the programme is open for participation across all age groups.
