The Civil Aviation Authority has requested the public not to approach the sea or practice any marine activity while the waves are high.
A low-pressure trough is looming in the upper atmosphere bringing in the expectation of rains that were experienced on Saturday and is expected on Sunday as well in the coastal areas of the Arabian Sea, the Sea of Oman, and parts of Al Hajar Mountains.

But what is influencing more is the cold wave, according to the weather expert at Oman Met Office, “There are chances for isolated showers on Sunday along the Oman Sea coasts. That is also to influence the coasts of Musandam and Dhofar governorates. The cold wave is also to bring down the temperature and Jabal Shams could go down to zero degrees and it will continue to experience frost in early mornings.”
The strong winds are expected to have an impact on the sea waves as well.
The sea wave height on parts of the coasts of the Arabian Sea and the coast of Musandam on Saturday reached an average wave of 1.5-2 metres. “The sea wave height will gradually increase to include most of the coasts of the Sultanate of Oman, a moderate to a rough wave of 2-2.5 meters.”
Saturday saw the beginning of scattered rainfalls on the coasts of Al Sharqiyah South, according to the Oman Met, “which may include other governorates during the coming hours.”
On Saturday, medium and high clouds were present over most of the coasts of the Sultanate of Oman.
Low clouds and fog had formed over parts of Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, and Al Sharqiyah North governorates. Clear to partly cloudy skies prevailed over Musandam along with parts of the Oman Sea.
