Muscat: The Oman Basketball League for the 2023-2024 season has reached its final stage. Following intense qualifications, the first and second rounds have determined the triumphant teams Seeb, Al Bashayer, and Ahli Sidab who have advanced to the ultimate stage of the competition.
The league featured a spirited competition with the participation of seven prominent teams, including Al Bashayer, Nizwa, Ahli Sdab, Salalah, Oman Club and Dhofar.
The final stage matches are organised in a league format with a single round among the three qualified teams based on their previous points. According to the qualification results, Seeb and Al Bashayer are competing for this season's title, starting with a match between Seeb and Ahli Sidab on Friday night. This round continues with another match between Ahli Sdab and Al Bashayer on Sunday, concluding with the final match on Tuesday between Seeb and Al Bashayer at the subsidiary hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
The qualification results for the first and second rounds showed Seeb lead the scoreboard with 23 points, showcasing their basketball skills by scoring 1,051 points and conceding 851. Right on their tail are Al Bashayer, also with 23 points, scoring 1,044 points and conceding 592. Ahli Sidab secured the third spot with 19 points, taking 708 points and conceding 765.
In the fourth position are Nizwa with 19 points, determined by the point difference. Their players scored 839 points and conceded 802 points. Oman Club occupy the fifth position with 16 points, scoring 777 points and conceding 848 points. Dhofar stand in the sixth position with 13 points, scoring 461 points and conceding 851 points. Salalah are seventh with 13 points, scoring 567 points and conceding 849 points.
Seeb and Ahli Sidab aim to secure victory in the upcoming match, especially Seeb, eager to overcome this challenge and qualify for the decisive match against Al Bashayer for the sixth title. Seeb possess factors that enhance their chances of winning, having previously defeated Ahli Sidab in the earlier rounds. On the other hand, Ahli Sidab, led by coach Ahmed al Haj, seeks to compensate for the two previous losses and achieve victory in this confrontation.
