Muscat: The National Competitiveness Office on Monday launched a new body named “Association of International Indices Interest Groups”.
The association, which brings together experts from different specialties and entities, seeks to achieve a number of goals, notably the establishment of a common space for international indices’ interest groups.
The association aims at developing better awareness about the system of global indices as a tool for measuring prosperity. It also works towards furnishing a database of indicators that can be consulted by government and private establishments.
The new association strives to build partnership with civil society with the aim of encouraging national teams to help improve the performance of the Sultanate of Oman in international indices.
The association will participate in activities of the National Competitiveness Office, enhance media exposure and submit improvement initiatives to the National Competitiveness Committee.
The association will introduce experts who could provide consultations to government departments in the field of international indices, to help draft Oman’s competitiveness annual report.
