The Oman Paralympic Athletics Meeting (OPAM), organised by the Oman Paralympic Committee (OPC) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, concluded with great success on Sunday at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher . The award ceremony was held under the auspices of Lujaina bint Mohsen Darwish, showcasing remarkable talent and fierce competition among 150 athletes from Oman and GCC clubs.
On the final day, several competitions took place with the following results, In the 200m race for girls in the T22 category, Hanin al Musbah from Nami al Tamouh Club in Kuwait secured first place with a time of 31.65 seconds. In second place was Taif al Jabri from Oman Al Tadaman Club with a time of 49.32 seconds, and in third place was Aya Qasim from Oman Professional Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center with a time of 51.89 seconds.
In the girls 100m race in the T20 category, Hanin Al Musbah from the Kuwait Ambition Club took first place with a time of 15.33 seconds, Aya Qasim from the Care and Rehabilitation Center in Oman came in second with a time of 22.97 seconds, and Taif al Jabri from the Solidarity Club in Oman secured third place with a time of 25.00 seconds.
Taha al Harrasi from the OPC won first place with a time of 12.78 seconds at men 100m race in the T12-T36-46-T47 category, Yahya al Balushi from the Trust Club in the UAE came in second place with a time of 11.80 seconds, and Saif al Muqaibli from the OPC finished third with a time of 11.81 seconds.
In the 1500m race for men in the T12-T36-T46 category, Abdulrazzaq Haseh from the Ambition Club in Kuwait claimed first place with a time of 5:51.10 minutes and Saqr al Qasmi from the OPC came in second with a time of 5:07.90 minutes.
In the 200m race for men in the T20-T12-T46 category, Yahya al Balushi from the Trust Club in the UAE took first place with a time of 24.21 seconds, Qusay al Rawahi from the OPC came in second with a time of 24.77 seconds, and his teammate Saif al Muqaibli finished third with a time of 24.23 seconds.
In the shot put competition for girls in the F54-F55 categories, Yasmeen Wahid Bukhash from the Saudi City Club claimed first place with a distance of 4.58 metres, Maha al Rashidi from the Saudi Club secured second place with a distance of 3.60 metres, and Rayya al Abri from the OPC finished third with a distance of 3.54 metres.
In the shot put competition for men in the F54-F55 categories, Abdullah al Musbahi from the Khor Fakkan Club won first place with a distance of 7.11 metres. while Omani Sultan al Shamsi came in second with a distance of 7.83 metres, and his teammate Maktoum al Maqbali finished third with a distance of 6.20 metres.
Lujaina Darwish highlighted the significance of the Oman Paralympic Athletics Meeting in empowering individuals with disabilities and commended the organisers for their dedication to inclusive sports.
Dr Mansour al Touqi, head of the Oman Paralympic Committee, expressed his satisfaction with the event's success and acknowledged the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth. He emphasised the event's international judging standards and the qualification of athletes for the Paralympic Games in France.
