MUSCAT: The Oman Para Athletics Meeting (OPAM) continues its thrilling in its sixth edition during December 15-16, at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
The competitions feature 150 athletes from the Sultanate of Oman and GCC countries, organised by the Oman Paralympic Committee (OPC).
Hanin al Musbahi from the Kuwaiti Ambition team secured first place in the girls’ long jump competition, T20 category, with a distance of 3.54 metres. Amima al Balushi from the Oman Evaluation and Rehabilitation Centre took second place with a jump of 1.40 metres, while Tayf al Jabri from the Oman Al Tadaman team claimed the third spot with a jump of 1.23 metres.
In the long jump competition for men in T13-T36-T46 categories, Taha al Harrasi from the OPC clinched first place with a distance of 4.78 metres. His team-mate Hatem al Zadjali secured second place with a jump of 4.28 metres, and Qasim al Rawahi took third place with a jump of 4.90 metres.
While in the men’s shot put competition, F32-F33-F34 categories, Mohammed al Qasmi from the OPC claimed first place with a throw of 7.00 metres. Abdulaziz al Kindi from the Khawr team in the UAE secured second place with a throw of 7.22 metres, while Maanathani from the OPC took third place with a throw of 6.72 metres.
In the men’s long jump competition, T12 category, Oman Paralympic Committee athletes dominated the top three positions. Saqr al Qasmi secured first place with a jump of 4.75 metres, followed by Rashid al Siyabi in second place with a jump of 4.13 metres, and Salem al Adwani in third place with a jump of 3.00 metres.
In the men’s javelin throw, F57 category, Abdullah al Dhahani from the Khor Fakan team in the UAE claimed first place with a distance of 9.90 metres. Khalifa al Yahyai from the Oman Al Tadaman team took second place with a throw of 7.81 metres, and Abdullah al Maamari, from OPC, secured third place with a throw of 6.29 metres.
In the women’s shot put competition, F34-F32 categories, Iman Taysir from the OPC secured first place with a throw of 5.13 metres. Thuraya al Zaabi from the UAE’s Al Thiqa team took second place with a throw of 4.80 metres, while Fadia al Munji from the OPC claimed third place with a throw of 2.72 metres.
Sulaiman Abdullah from the Kuwaiti Ambition team secured first place in the men’s 100-metre race, T20 category, with a time of 13.72 seconds. His team-mate Tamer Ali took second place with a time of 14.55 seconds, and Mohannad al Ghafeeli from the Saudi secured third place with a time of 17.60 seconds.
In the men’s 400 metres race, T12-T36-T47 categories, Omani Paralympic Committee athletes took the top three positions. Saif al Maqbali secured first place with a time of 55.71 seconds, followed by Saqr al Qasmi in second place with a time of 56.14 seconds, and Hatem al Zadjali in third place with a time of 1:05.93.
In the men’s javelin throw, F33-F34 categories, Abdulaziz al Kindi from the Khor Fakan team secured first place with a throw of 21.95 metres. Omani athlete Sultan al Sinani took second place with a throw of 15.60 metres, and Saudi athlete Ahmed al Hujaili claimed third place with a throw of 7.63 metres.
In the javelin throw competition for blind athletes, F11-F12 categories, Omani athlete Ammar al Kalbani won the gold medal with a throw of 12.75 metres.
In the men’s javelin throw, F57 category, Abdullah al Dhuhani from the Khor Fakan team secured first place with a throw of 23 metres. Omani athlete Ali al Ghassani took second place with a throw of 22.50 metres, and Jassim al Balushi from Oman claimed third place with a throw of 15.90 metres.
In the men’s shot put, F36-F37 categories, Ammar al Shibli from the OPC secured first place with a throw of 6.94 metres. The Saudi athlete Sari al Jahani took second place with a throw of 4.76 metres, and Nasser al Makhmari from Al Khabourah team claimed third place with a throw of 4.71 metres.
In the women’s shot put, F40-F46 categories, Maryam al Ziyoudi from the Khor Fakan team secured first place with a throw of 7.91 metres. Her team-mate Mariam al Matroushi took second place with a throw of 8.86 metres, and Omani athlete Sara al Amboori claimed third place with a throw of 4.57 metres.
Shamaa al Mazmi from the UAE’s Al Thiqa team secured first place in the women’s shot put, F31-F32 categories, with a throw of 12.49 metres. Omani athlete Fatma al Harthy from the Aman Rehabilitation Centre took second place with a throw of 6.10 metres.
In the shot put competition for blind women, F12-F13-F20 categories, Fatma al Kubali from the UAE’s Al Thiqa team secured first place with a throw of 4.14 metres. Saudi athlete Ahlam al Harbi took second place with a throw of 2.66 metres, and Omani athlete Tayf al Jabri claimed third place with a throw of 2.57 metres.
