MUSCAT, DEC 12

Several key agreements were signed yesterday, December 12, at the inauguration ceremony of the Green Hydrogen Summit Exhibition at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat.

The first was an agreement by Takhzeen — a partnership of ONEIC of the Sultanate of Oman and Energy Dome of Italian — to support the rollout of energy storage solutions in Oman.

Speaking to the press, Eng Salim al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, highlighted the significance of the agreement, sharing that it marked a significant development given the importance of energy storage in the field of renewable energy.

The second agreement was signed between Hydrom and Asyad Group to establish logistics infrastructure for green hydrogen. According to Al Aufi, the partnership will entail the transportation of desalinated water to production areas, the transport of hydrogen locally and the export of hydrogen in the form of green ammonia.

Furthermore, the third agreement was signed between Hydrom and Oman Investment Authority (OIA) and Siemens Energy to study the development and construction of an electrolyser manufacturing facility in Oman.

Commenting on this agreement, Al Aufi shared that due to the huge number of electrolysers needed for the upcoming green hydrogen projects in the country, it is crucial to study the possibility of manufacturing electrolysers in the country. He added that later ventures will study the possibility of manufacturing solar panels and wind turbines in Oman.

Over 40 local and global companies are participating in the three day exhibition, which is accompanying the Green Hydrogen Summit Conference.

In a statement, Al Aufi, highlighted the significance of the exhibition, "The presence of companies at the local and global levels interested in the entire supply chain in the green hydrogen sector at the exhibition accompanying the summit represents a unique opportunity to exchange experiences and learn about the latest technologies and advancements in this sector. We look forward to their direct contributions to the energy transition."

The Green Hydrogen Summit Conference is set to begin today, December 13, in the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat.
