Muscat: The Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) on Tuesday marked the Sultan’s Armed Forces Day (SAF Day), which falls on December 11 every year.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr Mohammed Nasser al Zaabi, Secretary General at the Ministry of Defence.
The celebration took place at Al Seeb Air Base. It began with a military salute to the chief guest. The RAFO band played the Royal Anthem. This was followed by a silent infantry military parade performed by the RAFO music band, which presented a diverse set of musical pieces.
The ceremony also included the recital of a poem in celebration of the SAF Day, in addition to a parachute show performed by RAFO free fall team. Then, RAFO fighter planes passed over the celebration grounds.The celebration reflected the high capabilities and skills possessed by RAFO military personnel, as well as the modernization realized in RAFO equipment and systems, thanks to the Royal care of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander.
At the conclusion of the celebration, the chief guest and attendees toured an exhibition held on the sidelines of the ceremony. The exhibition showcased advanced aircraft, weapons and equipment that keep pace with the national requirements and promote the missions undertaken by the Royal Air Force of Oman.The event was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), current commanders of SAF and other military and security units, veteran commanders, senior officers, retired RAFO servicemen, invitees and school students.
