The Tour De COP team, a journey of cyclists supporting UN’s sustainable developments goals for a brighter future which began in Muscat two weeks ago, is attending the COP28 which is currently underway in the emirates, along with the representatives from the Sultanate of Oman, sharing remarkable contribution of protecting the environment and creating awareness on the importance of preserving the nature for the generations to come.


Speaking to the Observer from Dubai, from the main venue of the global climate summit, Yusef Ahmed, Initiator of the Tour DE Cop said that the team is able to share its experiences from the COP28 summit, a pivotal event in the global sustainability calendar.


“Our participation this year has been profoundly enriching and enlightening, offering us a unique perspective on the intricacies of energy transition and sustainable practices as at COP28, the value of connecting with diverse professionals was unmistakable. The environment at COP28 was vibrant and invigorating, filled with engaging encounters and thought-provoking exchanges. It was a powerful reminder of how collective action and shared knowledge are instrumental in shaping a sustainable future,” he said, adding that each moment at COP28 was a testament to the dynamic energy and commitment shared by everyone present. We were united in our goal to drive meaningful global action towards a more sustainable future. It was a privilege to be part of such a seminal event, and I am more motivated than ever to contribute to the ongoing efforts in this critical area.


Tour De Cop team, comprising cyclists from various backgrounds including students, professionals, and environmental enthusiasts includes notable figures such as renowned long distance cyclist Ambassador Mohamed Elewa, German cycling pioneer Wolfgang Hohmann alias Wolfi, and visibly impaired Egyptian triathlete Ibrahim Hafez, exemplifying the spirit of inclusivity and determination that drives the TOUR DE COP.
