DUBAI: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Health is taking part in the 1st ministerial meeting on health and climate within the activities of the Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 28), hosted in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Oman’s delegation in the meeting is headed by Dr Fatima bint Mohammed al Ajmiyah, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs, in the presence of several officials from the ministry.
The meeting discusses a spectrum of strategic topics and includes several technical papers on health issues that are related to climate change. It also reviews means of reducing emissions to save peoples’ lives and enhance mental health.
Moreover, the meeting touches on the role of development banks and financing institutions in tackling effects of climate change on health, among other topics.
