MUSCAT: In a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP), along with key players such as the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the Joint Committee for External Exhibitions of Omani Products (OPEX), the 'Made in Oman' campaign gets underway with a comprehensive agenda extending until the end of December 2023.

Scheduled for Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the campaign is strategically designed to elevate consumer awareness regarding national products and actively feature them in a series of promotional events. Notable figures, including Qais bin Mohammed al Yousuf, the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, will be present alongside other dignitaries.

Dr. Saleh bin Saeed Masan, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, shared insights into the campaign's objectives.

Dr. Saleh emphasized the campaign's core goal: introducing and promoting national products within the local market. The initiative also seeks to drive the adoption of the new National Product Identity logo while encouraging industrial establishments to obtain a license for this identity. The overarching aim is to boost local consumer confidence in national products, positioning them as the preferred choice.

Dr. Saleh highlighted the pivotal role the campaign plays in forming a distinctive image of the diverse Omani industry, fostering integration among industrial establishments and small to medium-sized enterprises, and creating enduring connections between producers and consumers.

The launch event promises a series of activities, including the unveiling of the "Omani Quality Mark," the inauguration of an Omani product corner at Al Mawaleh in Muscat, and a ceremony honoring institutions participating in the 'Made in Oman' campaign.

Notably, the campaign aims to resonate with diverse demographic groups across various age brackets. Dr. Saleh stressed the collaborative effort with partners to make the initiative inclusive and inspiring for all members of society. The intention is to deliver an interactive experience that encourages citizens and residents to actively support local products, leveraging the richness and diversity of Omani industries. Furthermore, Dr. Saleh aims to expand partnerships to serve the overarching economic development goals and garner support from both government and private entities involved in industrial sector development.

Underlining the exceptional quality of Omani products, Dr. Saleh asserted their capability to compete both locally and internationally. Supporting Omani products, he emphasized, directly contributes to the national economy by infusing money internally, bolstering foreign trade, and boosting sales and production for national factories. This multifaceted impact creates new employment opportunities, fuels the growth of the Omani industry, and significantly contributes to the GDP.

In a parallel endorsement, Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the OCCI, highlighted the 'Made in Oman' campaign as a strategic move to empower national industries, aligning with the vision of Oman 2040. He underscored the crucial role of promotions to complement the exceptional quality of Omani products, especially in the face of heightened competition resulting from Oman's economic openness.

The 'Made in Oman' campaign, with its dual focus on quality and promotion, is poised to make a significant impact, not only on the perception of Omani products but also on the broader economic landscape, marking a step towards economic diversification and sustainability.
