Muscat: In a thrilling match held on Saturday at the Saada Sports Complex, Dhofar showcased their prowess by defeating Al Rustaq with a commanding 4-1 scoreline. as part of the tenth round of the Oman Football League.
The home team, Dhofar, commenced the game with a dynamic offensive strategy, asserting control over the proceedings. while the opposing team, Al
Rustaq, relied on quick offensive transitions. Dhofar seized an early lead, with the first goal materialising in the 5th minute through a rapid attack initiated by Naif Faraj. The ball skillfully manoeuvred through Al Rustaq's defenders and found its mark as Abdullah al Musharafi slotted it into the net.
After the goal, Al Rustaq tried to press for an equaliser and had several dangerous opportunities, but Dhofar's goalkeeper and defenders thwarted their attempts. Dhofar then took advantage of the open spaces in Al Rustaq's defence to score the second goal in the 20th minute, courtesy of player Hussein al Shuari.
The game continued as a riveting exchange between the teams. Al Rustaq managed to secure a free-kick in the 31st minute, expertly delivered by Abdullah al Habshi. Abdulazim al Ajmi rose to the ball, scoring a goal that narrowed the gap. However, despite Al Rustaq's dominance, they were unable to capitalise on subsequent opportunities. The first half concluded with Dhofar maintaining a 2-1 lead.
The second half saw both teams maintaining their initial momentum. Al Rustaq, despite dominating possession, struggled to convert opportunities into goals. Dhofar, relying on effective counter-attacks, secured a third goal in the 88th minute through Mohamed Al-Siyam. As the match drew to a close, Qasim Saeed scored Dhofar's fourth goal in the 90+3rd minute, cementing their victory at 4-1.
With this result, Dhofar temporarily clinched the sixth position in the league standings, boasting 13 points. Conversely, Al Rustaq faced their fourth loss, retaining the tenth position with 8 points.
Al Nasr's Dominant Sur
In another match on Saturday, Al Nasr secured a decisive 3-0 victory against Sur, elevating their points to 15 and maintaining the fifth position in the Omani Football League. Walid al Musalmi showcased his prowess by scoring all three goals for Al Nasr.
Despite enjoying home advantage and audience support, Sur failed to capitalise on their opportunities, freezing their points at 10 and dropping to the eighth position. Simultaneously, their direct competitor in the standings Dhofar, surged ahead with a victory over Al Rustaq.
Bahla and Al Shabab Share Points in Tenth-Round
In a separate match on Saturday, Bahla and Al Shabab played to a goalless draw in the tenth round of the Omani Football League at the Nizwa Sports Complex.
with this result, Bahla failed to secure their second victory in the competition, remaining at the bottom of the table with 5 points. On the other hand, Al Shabab raised their points to 10, maintaining the ninth position.
