Dunkirk: The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) handed over the winner of the Sultan Qaboos Sailing Trophy (11th edition) to Polish sailing ship Dar Młodzieży in the city of Dunkirk, the Republic of France. The event, which reflects the Sultanate of Oman’s interest in sailing at the regional and international levels, coincides with the 53rd glorious National Day.

The award ceremony took place during the closing of an annual sailing conference organized by the International Sail Training Association, under the auspices of Azza bint Hamoud al Busaidiyah, Chargé d’Affaires of the Sultanate of Oman’s Embassy in Paris.

The Sultan Qaboos Sailing Trophy is supervised by the RNO in cooperation with the International Sail Training Association. It was first launched in the Kingdom of Norway in 2011 under the Royal orders of late Sultan Qaboos bin Said. It is considered the most prestigious award in the field of sailing.

This award lends great support to sail training worldwide. This is in addition to its humanitarian roles in spreading fraternity, cooperation, love and peace.

The award ceremony was attended by Commodore Mohammed bin Hamoud al Zadjali, Senior Staff Officer at the RNO, the Military Attache at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Paris (non-resident for Germany, Italy, Spain and Austria), RNO officers, the President of the International Sail Training Association, among other officials and experts. — ONA
