Oman, Kuwait boost ties, condemn Israeli aggression in Gaza

KUWAIT: As part of his current visit to the State of Kuwait, Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, held a meeting here on Thursday with Sheikh Salim Abdullah Al Jaber Al Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait.


During the meeting, the two ministers underscored the fact that relations between Oman and Kuwait are deep-rooted in history. They also underlined the two countries’ keenness to enhance relations in all fields of interest.


The two ministers also expressed their satisfaction over the progress of bilateral cooperation and coordination on issues of common concern.


Further, the two sides exchanged views about regional and international developments, notably the Israeli brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip and its repercussions on the region. They stressed the need of rallying regional and international efforts to stop the war and provide protection and humanitarian needs to civilians.

Sayyid Badr and his Kuwaiti counterpart, reiterated their absolute rejection of Israel’s ongoing violation of international law and the Humanitarian International Law.


The ministers said the international community must hold Israel accountable for its crimes against the Palestinian people and for killing thousands of children, women and innocent unarmed civilians in the Gaza Strip and the rest of occupied Palestinian territories.


Moreover, the two ministers welcomed the Security Council resolution issued yesterday regarding the call for a humanitarian truce, and the necessity of applying unified global standards in applying international law.


They said that the United Nations Security Council has a fundamental and central responsibility to stop the Israeli aggression, protect civilians from wars and maintain international peace and security in accordance with Chapter VII of the UN Charter.

The two foreign ministers affirmed that both Oman and Kuwait have constant stances in support of the Two-State Solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al Quds Al Sharqiyah (East Jerusalem) as its capital, in accordance with the decisions of international legitimacy and obligations to achieve security and peace in the region.


Meanwhile, Sayyid Badr and Sheikh Salim signed two memoranda of understanding (MoU) and two executive programmes in the fields of higher education, protection of competitiveness and technical cooperation in the field of environment (2024-2026) and in the field of developing industrial exports (2024-2025).


The meeting was attended from the Omani side by Sheikh Ahmed Hashel Al Maskari, Head of the GCC Department and Dr. Saleh Amir Al Kharousi, Ambassador of Oman to Kuwait. Moreover, it was attended from the Kuwaiti side by Sheikh Jarah Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Salim Al Zamanan, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for GCC Affairs. - ONA
