Muscat: Al Bashayer Club emerged triumphant over Ahli Sidab with a resounding score of 87-34 in Oman Basketball League 2023-24 season at the sub- court of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
From the opening moments, Al Bashayer demonstrated their prowess, with players such as Damon Ross, Saeed al Saadi, Osama al Riyami and Mahmoud al Souli standing out with exceptional performances. The team's strategic gameplay proved effective, securing victories in all four quarters of the match.
Al Bashayer started scoring through Damon and his teammate Sameh al Riyami added a three-pointer. Ahli Sidab responded with two points by Walid al Hatli. Al Bashayer then increased the lead by scoring two points under the basket by Saeed al Saadi, followed by a free throw by his teammate Ahmed al Halhali. Ahli Sidab's Khaled al Hashmi managed to score two points under the basket.
Both teams continued their offensive attempts, and at the end of the first quarter, Al Bashayer led Ahli Sidab 24-12.
In the second quarter, Al Bashayer maintained their dominance, doubling their score and widening the gap by adding 31 points, while Ahli Sdab only managed to add 11 points. The first half ended with Al Bashayer leading Ahli Sidab 55-23.
Al Bashayer's offensive prowess continued in the third quarter, with the team adding more points to make it 73-27. Ahli Sidab responded, but Al Bashayer finished the third quarter with a substantial lead of 73-29.
In the fourth quarter, the game continued with attacks, with Bashayer's Ahmed al Jahwari scoring a point from a mistake, and his teammate Damon James adding 4 points to further strengthen their team's lead to 78-29. While Ahli Sidab struggled to capitalise on opportunities, Al Bashayer's Nuh al Mahrouqi added two points under the basket, followed by a three-pointer from his teammate Abdulrahman al Shuaibi, and two points from Ahmed al Jahwari, leading Al Bashayer to an 85-29 advantage. The game continued with both teams scoring points, and it concluded with Bashayer winning against Ahli Sidab with a score of 87-34.
The match was officiated by international referees Essam al Siyabi as the first referee, Rashed al Mushaifri as the second referee and Ali al Salmani as the third referee. On the table were Umama al Hajri, Munir al Nuaimani and Fatima al Harathi.
