MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman voiced its deepest denunciation and condemnation for the continued massacres and war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people and the targeting of civilians and healthcare facilities, including the horrific and brutal massacre on the Osama Bin Zaid School of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in northern Gaza Strip where hundreds of Palestinian families took refuge from the devastating bombing by the occupation forces, the bombing of the UNRWA Al Fakhoura School in Jabalia, the strikes at the entrance of Al Nasr Children’s Hospital in western Gaza Strip and the targeting of a public water tank that supplies several neighbourhoods east of Rafah and south of the Gaza Strip.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, the Sultanate of Oman stressed the need for a real awakening by the international community based on its moral, legal and humanitarian responsibilities, to put an end to this clear recklessness and arbitrariness of Israel and its violation of international laws and conventions.

The statement reiterated the Sultanate of Oman’s request to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to form a court for war crimes committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza and to prosecute war criminals for all the massacres that were committed.

The statement affirmed that an immediate end to this brutal war is an urgent necessity. It added that the international community should, without tolerance, demonstrate a firm stance towards the ongoing Israeli violations against the innocent, defenceless civilians and enable the delivery of urgently needed humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The Sultanate of Oman stressed on the resolutions of international legitimacy and the firm Omani attitudes towards the Palestinian cause calling for Israel’s withdrawal from the entire occupied Palestinian territories to the 1967 borders and enabling the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the principle of the two-state solution and on the basis of international law.

TOP PRIORITY

Meanwhile, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, and Yoko Kamikawa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, during a phone conversation, stressed that an urgent truce to the war in Gaza is a top priority to enable the delivery of humanitarian assistance and relief materials to the inhabitants of Gaza in a greater and faster manner. They called for an end to the killing of civilians.

They also called for dialogue to find a final and lasting settlement to the Palestinian cause based on the two-state solution and the international law which will lead to breaking the cycle of violence and extremism.
