Muscat: The Omani-Qatari Joint Committee concluded a ministerial meeting in Muscat on Thursday.


The Omani side at the two-day meeting was led by Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance, while the Qatari delegation was headed by Ali bin Ahmed al Kawari, Minister of Finance.


During meeting, the committee explored cooperation in various fields, including economy and trade, as well as the progress made in joint investment projects.


At the conclusion of the meeting, two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed by Oman’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and Qatar’s Ministry of Sports and Youth. The MoUs were signed on behalf of the two countries by their respective ministers of finance.


A memorandum of understanding signed in the field of youth is aimed at enhancing cooperation and facilitating communication among youth institutions, exchanging expertise and research and promoting youth development and entrepreneurship.


It also aimed at consolidating the exchange of expertise, the management and maintenance of sports facilities, as well as dealing with investment and marketing mechanisms, grooming sports leaders and developing women’s sports, sports for people with disabilities and sports medicine specialisations.


A memorandum of understanding was signed by the Ministry of Education, Oman Development Bank (ODB) and Karwa Motors Company of Qatar.


The MoU was inked by Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, Eng Mohammed bin Abu Bakr al Ghassani, Chairman of ODB; and Dr Sa’ad bin Ahmed al Mohannadi, Chairman of Karwa Motors Company.


The MoU was aimed to replace existing school buses serving government schools in Oman with modern fleet equipped with high safety and security specifications. — ONA
