Muscat: The Royal Oman Police decided to suspend issuing all types of new visas for citizens of Bangladeshi nationality until further notice, as part of reviewing the policies for obtaining some visas as of Tuesday, 10/31/2023 until further notice.
"However, there wouldn't be any hassle in renewing the existing visas and they can follow the usual channels for renewing residency status for this nationality," a top ROP source said.
As part of its continuous drive to improve services, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has updated its visa issuance policies, a top source has confirmed.
Accordingly, changing a tourist visa or visit visa status to residence status will not be allowed, unlike in the past, unless the visa holder exits the country.
"A tourist or visit visa holder has to exit the country if he or she wishes to change the status and the residence visa application should attach an exit stamp if he wishes to return on an employment visa," he said adding that this decision is taken after several companies were found to have changed the status by paying a sum for the service.
This rule is applicable to all nationalities irrespective of their professional status.
Accordingly, anyone planning to visit Oman can apply online for an e-visa the process of which is simple and helps people avoid long queues at airports for getting visa permits, according to the source.
Oman e-visa takes 2 to 3 days to process while a Tourist Visa takes anything between a day to 7 days.
Oman Resident, Sponsored Student Visa needs 1-7 days to process the same while a similar time is taken for Oman Resident Sponsored Employment Visa.
