MUSCAT: Oman Environmental Services Holding Company SAOC (be’ah) is making history by hosting the 39th International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) World Congress, marking the first time this prestigious event is being held in the Middle East and North Africa Region.


Scheduled from October 30 to November 1 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat, the event carries the theme ‘Global Action towards a Net-Zero Future.’


This Congress will bring together an exceptional gathering of solid waste management professionals, government officials, industry leaders, policymakers, scientists, and emerging young professionals from around the world.


With a reputation for uniting over 1,000 delegates, the ISWA World Congress is known for fostering crucial discussions and collaborations necessary for addressing waste management challenges and sustainable development.


The 2023 edition will feature high-level plenaries and a comprehensive scientific programme.


Underlining the socioeconomic impacts of waste recycling, waste reduction, health, safety, policy regulation related to recycling, climate change, and the pursuit of sustainable development goals, this year’s Congress would cast a spotlight on these critical areas.


Oman’s selection as the event location emphasises the nation’s expertise and leadership in waste management, positioning it as a hub for knowledge exchange and innovation in the field.
