I have been blessed with the opportunity to learn, gain knowledge, live, and work with a few of the most reputable academic and professional institutions in the United States and the United Kingdom.
For example, I’m proud that I am able to put into practice several of the best business practices gained from programmes with Harvard Business School and the University of Oxford Said Business School.
Today, this sense of pride in having studied and lived in these cultures turned into a deep sense of disappointment in Western cultural values.
A sentiment shared with more than 400 million people in the Arab world and more than a billion Muslims around the world. The current genocide and war crimes, according to international laws, are building up strong resentments, not only in Palestinian people but also in people among the global and northern hemispheres.
While global superpower leaders preached a post-Covid ‘Building Back Better’ world order, leaders in the US, the UK, and the European Union have planted seeds of a new world disorder, stocked with racial and religious hatred for Arabs, Muslims and Eastern faiths and cultures, such as Christian Arabs.
In particular, the only legacy of hatred being built currently by the leaders in the US, and the UK means that the world will not regard three universal concepts in a constructive way anytime in the near future - Human Rights, the International Community, and Sovereignty.
Human rights
Enslavement and depriving people of their freedoms has been an evil legacy shared and condemned by the world. However, the current statements by the US President, Secretary of the Department the Prime Minister in the UK, and the President of France asserting the superiority of Western races and Zionist political ideology is directly advocating for endless subjugation and enslavement of global South cultures.
Against all UN human rights principles, the narrative describing global south cultures exclusively as savages, barbarians, and terrorists is always a precursor for instilling in this and future generations the only purpose for our existence is serving Western civilized masters, just as in the despicable era of enslavement.
The international community
How can the world continue to respect terms such as the International Community when it only refers to a supremacist new world disorder? An international community that incinerates thousands of Palestinian children, women, and men with 2-tonne bombs because it views them as less human beings is indeed a collective of violent bullies that the rest of us need to stand up to and should never be called the international community.
Sovereignty
Since the emergence of the national states post-Westphalian Treaty in the 1680s, we as human beings vowed to respect the agreed-upon right to have boundaries and self-determination. However, the current world disorder is instigating instability by undermining the national decision of many Global South nations to aid 13 million people whose only aspiration is to live free of occupation and colonial settler mentality.
This time it is different, in the past genocide and world crimes took place by any power around the world, the excuse was that it would never happen again because humanity now knows better.
Today, knowledge is at our fingertips, literally, yet global superpowers choose to continue a cycle of abuse and a legacy of oppression, bullying, and enslavement against anyone who will not resist. Humanity should never forget one simple and powerful fact, in the words of Assata Shakur: ‘Where there is oppression, there will be resistance.’
