JAKARTA: A delegation of Omani business leaders currently participating in the 38th Indonesian International Trade Fair (Trade Expo 38) under way in Jakarta, met with a number of local officials and also toured key manufacturing hubs in the country.
The delegation comprising business figures from the governorates of Dhofar and Al Wusta, as well as representatives from Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in these governorates.
Over the weekend, the delegation met with officials of the National Export Department of the Indonesian Ministry of Commerce and explored opportunities for enhancing trade cooperation.
The Omani side also discussed options for re-exporting Indonesian products to the wider Gulf region as well as the Horn of Africa region. Several proposals aimed at stimulating trade and economic exchange between the two countries were also discussed. They include options for the recruitment of skilled Indonesian workers, boosting flights, and exchanging expertise between the two sides.
During the visit, the Omani delegation also toured a company specializing in heavy industry, columns, spare parts and oil products, as it is one of the largest companies in this field. The visit was attended by Mohammed Arzan Johan, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia accredited to the Sultanate of Oman. The Omani side also made a presentation on the Raysut Industrial City in Salalah and opportunities for investment in this hub. Visits were also undertaken to a number of plants manufacturing steel poles spare parts, and oil and gas equipment.
On the sidelines of the 38th Indonesian International Fair, the Omani delegation held bilateral meetings with Indonesian businesses to explore agency representations and trade deals in the fields of pharmaceuticals, food processing and fresh food.
