Seeb prevail over Oman Club in OBL

MUSCAT: Al Seeb Club kicked off their journey in the Oman Basketball League 2023-24 season with a valuable win against Oman Club, with a score of 66-36, in the match held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Wednesday.


Both teams showed varying levels of performance during the match, and Seeb demonstrated superiority in both offence and defence. They managed to lead in most periods of the game, while Oman Club, despite the loss, showed a convergence in performance.


The first quarter of the match started with activity and pressure from the Seeb players, and they managed to take a 6-point lead after three-pointers from American professional player Press and Zakaria al Wahaibi. After some attempts, Oman Club succeeded in scoring their first two points through Mazen al Hadidi. The offensive attempts continued between the two sides, with each team scoring a number of points. Seeb added 6 points, and Oman Club added 6 points, ending the first quarter with Seeb leading Oman Club 12-8.

In the second quarter, Seeb continued their offensive advantage and managed to widen the gap by scoring 12 points, while Oman Club added 8 points, bringing Seeb to a 24-16 lead. Seeb then extended their lead, with Press adding three more points with a three-pointer to strengthen the lead. Oman Club responded by scoring two points through Fahad al Ajmi, and Seeb's Ahmed al Maamari scored two points, ending the first half with Seeb leading Oman Club 31-18.

Seeb showed strong determination in the third quarter, scoring points generously and causing a decline in Oman Club's defensive performance, leading Seeb to a significant advantage at 53-24.


As the match progressed into the fourth quarter, Oman Club added 12 points, while Seeb netted 13 points, concluding the game with Seeb triumphing over Oman Club with a final score of 66-36.

Companies Championship


The competitions for the second edition of the Companies Basketball Championship 2023 continued on Thursday at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex with two matches. In the first match, Volkswagen's team will face the Silver Chair Company, and in the second match, Zenith Company will compete against Sarooj Construction Company. This championship is organised by Sports Mania with the support of Volkswagen Oman, in collaboration with the Oman Basketball Association.


The preliminary rounds of the tournament witnessed strong competition among the participating teams, creating an exciting atmosphere in terms of competition and audience presence. Sports Mania allocated prizes for the audience and winning players in the three-point shots.


The tournament featured 8 teams divided into two groups, each consisting of 4 teams. The first group included Sarooj Construction, Azadia, Volkswagen and Technoprof, while the second group included Al Hajri, Zenith, Silver Chair and Uturz Cousin.

The teams competed in each group in the first round, which extended over 3 weeks. Volkswagen and Al Hajri from the second group topped their respective groups.


The quarterfinal matches will be completed on Saturday, October 21, with two matches, the Al Hajri team play against Technoprof in the first match and the Azadia team take on Uturz Cousin in the second match.


The semifinal matches will be held on October 31. The final match and the closing ceremony will take place at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on November 4.
