New York: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries stressed, before a session held by the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue, the necessity of taking concrete steps and practical measures that preserve security and peace, spare the blood of innocent Palestinians, and find a permanent, comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, based on the basis of resolutions of international legitimacy and international law, including the resolutions issued by this Council, particularly Resolutions 242 and 338.
Egypt agreed to reopen its border crossing with the Gaza Strip to allow aid to reach Palestinians, the U.S. said, as the humanitarian crisis worsened for the 2.3 million people trapped in the enclave and anti-Israel protests flared across the Middle East.#Gaza #Palestine... pic.twitter.com/KjhZMnWJia

Dr. Mohammed bin Awad Al Hassan, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, said in a statement to the Gulf Cooperation Council during the meeting held at the United Nations headquarters in New York that what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories is not new, and the result is victims on both sides, a state of instability and a lack of security. The reason for this is double standards, which pushed Israel to continue committing massacres against the Palestinian people.
He added that the massacre of the Baptist Hospital in Gaza, which claimed the lives of nearly 600 martyrs, most of whom were women, children and the elderly, and hundreds of wounded and innocent people, is nothing but clear evidence of the Israeli escalation and violation of international law and international humanitarian law, especially the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
He stated that the countries of the Cooperation Council stress the necessity of an immediate ceasefire, and allowing relief teams and humanitarian teams carrying relief materials to enter the Gaza Strip safely and unconditionally.
There must be a clear position by this Council against the use of starvation and cutting off water and electricity as a means of war, and he demanded lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip, opening the crossings, and protecting workers in relief organizations and medical teams, especially those working in the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
