GCC Ministerial Council calls for urgent relief operation

Muscat - The 43rd session of the Ministerial Council of the GCC was held on Tuesday in the Sultanate of Oman regarding developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip, headed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and chairman of the current session of the Ministerial Council, and with the participation of ministers and in the presence of the Secretary General of the GCC.


The Ministerial Council discussed developments in the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, the escalation of violence and the indiscriminate Israeli bombing of residential neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death and injury of thousands of civilians, and the urgent and dangerous challenges facing the region as a result.


The Ministerial Council stressed the joint determination of the GCC to create an urgent humanitarian relief operation to help the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the necessity of ensuring the urgent delivery of this aid to Gaza.

Earlier, the Foreign Ministers of the GCC countries arrived in the Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday to participate in the extraordinary meeting to discuss developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip.


Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar; Prince Faisal bin Farhan al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates; Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain; Sheikh Salem al Abdullah al Jaber Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait and Jassim bin Mohammed al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC arrived in the Sultanate.


Upon their arrival at the Royal Private Airport, they were received by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and a number of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
