Ahli Sidab secure thrilling victory against Dhofar

MUSCAT: Ahli Sidab Club emerged victorious in an exhilarating match against Dhofar Club with a final score of 51-46 in the Oman Basketball League for the 2023-2024 season. The match, held at the secondary hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, showcased outstanding performances from both teams.


In a closely contested game, Ahli Sidab took the lead in the first three quarters, displaying prowess and control over the game. However, Dhofar made a remarkable comeback in the final quarter, displaying superior gameplay and scoring abilities.


The match began with Ahli Sidab aggressively attacking in the first quarter with Khalid al Hashmi managing a three-point shot. Dhofar missed several opportunities before Abdullah al Siyabi scored their first point from a mistake. The attacks continued from both teams, and Ahli Sidab’s Mohammed al Batashi scored two points with a shot from under the basket. The game continued with more attacks, during which Ahli Sidab added 8 points, while Dhofar added 7 points. The first quarter ended with Ahli Sidab leading 13-9.



In the second quarter, Ahli Sidab maintained their offensive momentum, efficiently converting opportunities into points. Notable contributions from Khalid al Hashmi, Hamiar al Hasani, Mohammed al Batashi and Mubarak al Wahibi extended their lead. Dhofar, though resilient, trailed Ahli Sdab, and the first-half ended at 24-16 in favour of Ahli Sidab.


The third quarter witnessed Ahli Sidab’s continued offensive dominance, adding 12 new points through Khalid al Hashmi and Ahmed al Hasani. Despite Dhofar’s efforts, Ahli Sidab maintained their lead, closing the quarter at 35-23.


In the fourth quarter, Dhofar showcased a strong resurgence, capitalising on Ahli Sidab’s momentarily reduced performance. Dhofar players displayed impressive teamwork, narrowing the gap and securing 23 points. However, Ahli Sidab held their ground and scored 16 points, ultimately clinching the victory with a final score of 51-46.


The match was officiated by international referees, with Rashid al Musharfi as the head referee, Mazen al Hilali as the second referee and Taha al Ameri as the third referee. Maryam al Zadjali, Musa al Siyabi, and Fatima al Harithy were present at the table, ensuring a smooth and fair game.
