The latest weather maps and numerical forecasts from the Oman Met Office indicate the formation of a low-pressure system in the southeastern region of the Arabian Sea during the latter part of this week.
Specialists at the National Centre for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards are monitoring the chances of a tropical condition forming in the Arabian Sea at the end of this week.
They have requested the citizens and residents to follow the weather bulletins.
The maximum temperatures recorded at various stations in Oman have come down to the mid-thirties (in Celsius).
Meanwhile, on Monday, the weather will continue to be hazy along the coasts of the Sea of Oman. At the same time, mainly clear skies are expected over most of the governorates with chances of cloud formation and isolated rain, occasionally thundershowers over the Al Hajar Mountains towards the afternoon. It could be associated with downdraft.
There are also chances of low clouds or fog patches at late night to early morning along parts of the coastal areas of the Arabian Sea.
Along the Sea of Oman coasts, winds are reported to be easterly to northeasterly, light to moderate at day time, becoming variable light at night. At the same time, over the rest of the governorates, it will be southerly to southeasterly light to moderate, and occasionally fresh along Al Sharqiyah South coasts.
Sea conditions are expected to be moderate along the coastal areas of Al Sharqiyah South adjacent to the Sea of Oman with a maximum wave height of 2.0 metres and slight along the rest of the coasts with a maximum wave height of 1.25 meters.
