The Integrated Residential Neighbourhoods Programme (Souroh) – a far-reaching sustainable housing solution supported by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MoHUP) – is among the key attractions of the Home & Building Expo currently underway at Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC).
The Souroh housing initiative exemplifies the Ministry's commitment to promoting sustainable urban planning and revitalizing the housing and real estate sector.
A crucial focal point in this year's October Urbanism campaign is the Ministry's active participation in the Home & Building Expo 2023. Through its presence at the 3-day expo, the Ministry is keen to introduce its landmark housing initiative, among other projects, to a broader audience.
The Souroh programmes serves a dual purpose: the construction of comprehensive residential neighborhoods from the ground up, beginning with essential infrastructure and extending to recreational facilities, while also nurturing the growth of sustainable communities that generate investment and employment opportunities for residents. These housing options are both diverse and characterized by their distinctive designs, which hold the potential to stimulate economic growth in the region.
On display at the Home & Building Expo is the model of Al Naseem neighborhood, a flagship of the Ministry's Souroh initiative. The exhibit offers a glimpse into the Ministry's vision by showcasing its target audience, available facilities, and services. As the pioneering residential development under the Ministry's purview, the Naseem neighborhood is poised to have a substantial economic impact in Oman.
In addition to spotlighting the Al Naseem neighborhood, the Ministry has unveiled site plans for the development of new integrated neighbourhoods in other parts of Oman. These new sites are strategically designed to align with the objectives of October Urbanism, which places a strong emphasis on creating a culture of sustainable urban planning and flexible adaptability to changing life dynamics. The goal is to construct an urban economy that caters to the needs of both individuals and communities, generating employment opportunities and fostering economic growth.
