Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman had attracted over 2 million visitors between January to August, 2023, up by 48.1 per cent compared to the same period of the last year according to the statistical bulletin of tourism indicators issued by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT).


As for lodges, the 3-5 star hotels saw a total of 1.2 million guests from January to August, 2023, reporting an increase of 26.7 per cent against the same period of 2022.


The total revenues of hotels with ratings of 3-5 stars increased by 26.3 percent, registering a sum of RO 138, 3 million during the same period.


The occupancy rate in the 3-5 star hotels during the month of August was 47, 5 percent, up 9.4 per cent compared to the same month of the last year.


According to the MHT’s figures, Jabal Al Akhdar attracted as many as 38,786 tourists in August, 2023, reporting remarkable growth of 22.5 per cent against the same month of 2022.


In 2022, Jabal Al Akhdar welcomed a total of 31, 932 tourists, who soothingly escaped the sweltering heat to a cooler place.
