MUSCAT: In a period where information exchange is the lifeblood of efficient healthcare systems, Oman has taken a key step forward with the implementation of Dhamani, a health insurance platform set up under the auspices of the Capital Market Authority (CMA) of Oman.
Speaking exclusively to the Observer, Ahmed al Mukhaini, CMA expert – Office of the Executive President, said the platform is set to reshape the healthcare insurance landscape in the Sultanate of Oman. Oman, like many countries, has recognized the need for a streamlined, efficient, and transparent healthcare insurance ecosystem, he noted.
According to the expert, the complexities of claims processing, communication between healthcare providers and insurance companies, and ensuring that patients receive the care they need, all while keeping costs manageable, have been persistent challenges.
The CMA conceived Dhamani to address these challenges by facilitating the seamless exchange of healthcare insurance information, said Al Mukhaini. At its core, Dhamani is a platform designed to connect all stakeholders in the healthcare insurance system. It serves as a unified hub where information flows freely and securely between health insurance companies, healthcare providers, and regulatory authorities.
“This digital platform simplifies and accelerates key processes, enabling healthcare providers to submit claims digitally, reducing paperwork and administrative overhead. Insurance companies can process claims more efficiently, leading to quicker reimbursements for healthcare providers and insured patients. One of the most significant advantages of Dhamani is its role in building trust and transparency within the healthcare insurance sector,” the official stated.
Dhamani ensures that billing practices, insurance coverage details, and reimbursement rates are readily available and easily accessible to all stakeholders. The platform promotes accountability by providing clear and consistent feedback between insurance companies and healthcare providers. This feedback loop is essential for continuous improvement and ensures the highest standards of patient care, Al Mukhaini pointed out.
Real-time data access allows insurers to support healthcare providers in making well-informed decisions, optimizing resource allocation, and delivering the best possible care to patients. The platform harnesses the power of digital innovation to streamline authorization processes, reduce administrative burdens, and improve overall system efficiency.
