Muscat: A total of 1,700 hotel rooms from 82 new facilities were opened in the Sultanate during the period between January 1 and September 14.
Among projects to be opened during the last quarter of this year include the 5-star St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Hotel with 71, to be followed by the Four Seasons Resorts and Private Residences, Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Muscat, and the Mandarin Oriental Muscat.
Revenues of hotels rated 3 to 5 stars in the Sultanate of Oman as of August-end 2023 was 138 million, an increase of 26.3 percent, compared to the same period of the year
2022.
The number of guests increased 27 percent to 1.3 million by the end of last August, compared to the same period in 2022.
The total number of visitors to the Sultanate of Oman during the period from January to August 2023 was 2.6 million visitors, an increase of 48.1 percent compared to the period in 2022, of which 1.1 million visitors were from the GCC states.
Between October 1 and 5, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) is conducting promotional roadshows in different GCC states with the participation of 15 local companies.
It may be noted that winter is a special season for tourism in the Sultanate of Oman as it is ideal for outdoor activities such as visiting coasts, deserts, mountains, and wadis among others.
