MUSCAT: Representatives of leading international companies, investors and decision-makers are expected to attend the Duqm Economic Forum, organised by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), and set to take place during October 16 – 17, in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD).

Confirming their attendance are delegations from Belgium, India, Brazil, Japan and China, among other. A group of companies will take part in the Forum, some of which are setting up investment projects in SEZAD while others are working to get business opportunities or form partnerships related to green industries. There are other companies, specialised in industrial production, that have been invited to invest in SEZAD.

Saleh bin Hamoud al Hassani, Advisor to the Chairman of OPAZ, pointed out that Duqm Economic Forum aims to shed light on the investment opportunities available in SEZAD, which is witnessing rapid economic growth, in addition to being a destination attracting international corporates and strategic projects in the fields of green industries, renewable energy projects and petrochemicals. SEZAD has witnessed a great interest from international companies to establish their projects in the Zone, according to studies conducted by these companies.

“The Forum reflects the government’s plan and its constant efforts aimed at bringing foreign direct investments to the Sultanate of Oman in general and the Special Economic Zone at Duqm in particular. The Zone has recently been placed on the global map for renewable energy, hydrogen and green iron projects by attracting a number of key projects in these sectors from India, Japan and Brazil.”

The Forum serves as a platform for the exchange of knowledge, visions, expertise and insights, as well as showcasing local and international projects and experiences during the Forum’s discussion sessions over the two days. Likewise, the Forum will also provide participants with the opportunity to closely get familiarised with the infrastructure facilities and major projects in the SEZ.
